How do disabled people get on the beach?

Beach wheelchairs are equipped with large, wide wheels that can roll across sand without sinking. BeachAbility is a charity that provides manual, balloon-shaped wheelchairs specially designed for use on the beach and other rugged terrain. Beach customers with physical disabilities who wear a disability badge on their vehicles will be able to park next to the east side of established traffic lanes. Vehicles with identification for the disabled can access the beach of free of charge.

Parking is allowed east of the established traffic lane only when conditions permit. To get your free beach parking pass, you must present a Social Security disability certificate for the current year that you are listed as disabled and are collecting disability benefits issued by the Social Security Administration or a certificate from the Veterans with Disabilities Administration for 100% of the current year.
