Parking and trail access The Half Moon Bay coastal trail runs from 11820 Cabrillo Hwy N (Half Moon Bay) to 1001 Miramontes Point Rd. Half Moon Bay), and both offer parking. Additional parking and restrooms can be found at Venice Beach, 401 Venice Blvd. The coastal trail is approximately 11.5 miles away when done in its entirety from start to finish.
You can start at either end, heading north on the Dardanelle Trail on Cypress Ave in Moss Beach, or heading south on the Cowell Ranch Trail, south of Miramontes Point Road, Half Moon Bay. There is currently no trail that crosses Princeton Harbor, but you can walk along the roads and sidewalks. The 7.6-mile Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail is a mostly paved multi-purpose trail that snakes along the bluffs of Half Moon Bay, California, from Pillar Point in the north to the Ritz Carlton in the south. People can enjoy walking and riding bicycles for their entire length, or riding horses on a shorter stretch.
Benches are periodically placed along the trail to rest with some of the best views in the region. The California Coastal Trail (CCT), which is still in progress, is a state project that, once completed, will cover 1,200 miles of California's coastline. After Miramar Beach, you'll cross green coastal cliffs overlooking the four picturesque beaches that make up Half Moon Bay State Beach. The Half Moon Bay shoreline has done a great job of covering most of the expanse along this part of the San Mateo County coastline. The coastline encompasses the cities of Half Moon Bay, Miramar, Montara, Moss Beach, El Granada, San Gregorio, La Honda and Fishmonger.
